This conference centre and concert hall, designed by the Spanish architect Santiago Calatrava, opened in 2003 and has become a symbol of the capital of the Canary Islands thanks to its architectural similarity to the Sydney Opera House. The auditorium is home to the Orquesta Sinfónica de Tenerife and offers a rich repertoire of music, opera and theatrical performances. Accordingly, the stage is equipped with both a modular orchestra shell and conventional overstage equipment. The auditorium’s operators are planning to considerably improve its safety, availability and comfort by renovating and extending it in the next few years.
During the renovations, the entire overstage system will be connected by a single computer control unit, our COSTACOwin®. For this purpose, 23 manual line sets are being replaced by mechanical ones and the 33 drives already fitted are being equipped with a necessary second brake. The renovations will take place during the 2017 summer break, and further redevelopment measures are planned for the following years.
